School systems across Canada are finding it challenging to deliver comprehensive accessibility services for students in wheelchairs. Outstanding problems include:
- Achieving system-wide accessibility within severe budget constraints
- Providing suitable access to temporary stages and bleachers (folding, portable, & mobile equipment)
- Filling accessibility gaps when frontline equipment breaks down
- Providing reliable access at outdoor locations and offsite facilities
- Finding rapidly deployable solutions to address urgent needs
In each of the above cases, standard access solutions may not be sufficient. New tools are needed!
This seminar will describe when and how portable wheelchair lifts can be used to resolve the problems discussed above.
The goal is to educate participants about emerging and innovative solutions to meet the needs of students with mobility impairments.
The seminar is presented by Graham Smith of Adaptive Engineering Inc (AEI).
AEI is an Alberta-based company that has been a world leader in portable wheelchair lift technology for over 40 years.
Mr. Smith has a BSc in physics and more that 20 years' experience in the design, manufacture, and deployment of accessibility solutions.
