The Board of Trustees invites applications for the position of
Superintendent of Schools / CEO
Buffalo Trail Public School Division
 
The successful candidate, a proven leader in public education, will work with the Board to maximize student learning in a safe and caring environment, preparing students for the challenges of the future in the global community. The Superintendent will foster an educational model in which students, teachers and families celebrate achievement in a highly effective, expertly staffed learning environment. Expertise and experience in community and government relations requiring executive networking and communication skills are essential. Integral components of division operation for which the Superintendent is ultimately responsible include: recruitment, assignment and retention of creative and inspired leadership, corporate wellness, transparent, future-focused fiscal administration, state-of-the-art technology, and effective, efficient operation of infrastructure and student transportation.
 
We are seeking an experienced leader in as many of the above-mentioned areas of responsibility as possible; one who thrives in a collaborative corporate environment and delegates accountability yet takes responsibility and makes difficult decisions. A life-long learner, the CEO must have a minimum academic qualification of Master’s in Education, must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and must hold or qualify for the Alberta Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard certificate.
 
Buffalo Trail Public School Division is a rural division with offices in Wainwright, approximately two hours south-east of Edmonton, serving County of Minburn, County of Vermilion River, MD of Wainwright, MD of Provost, Town of Wainwright and Town of Vermilion. It has 18 schools, 8 Hutterite Colony schools, one Outreach school and one distance learning school, 3958 students, 258 fte teachers, 200 fte support and administrative staff and an annual operating budget of approximately $57 M.
