If you work in Education in a leadership capacity, the Introduction to Education Law course will provide individuals with a basic overview of Negligence, Administrative Procedural Fairness, examples of Criminal Law, and the rudiments of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms within the Canadian educational context. The course is presented on Zoom, held on (7) Fridays starting January 10, 2025.

If you work in Education in a leadership capacity the Introduction to Education Law course will provide individuals with a basic overview of Negligence, Administrative Procedural Fairness, examples of Criminal Law, and the rudiments of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms within the Canadian educational context.

This is a university level course with relative time and class preparation requirements.

We are very pleased to have our returning instructor Dr. J. Kent Donlevy, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., J.D., Ph.D. , Barrister & Solicitor, Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary.

All classes will be offered via the ZOOM platform and are NOT recorded.

Total class time is 20 hours + research, reading and presentation preparation.

The course is held on Fridays with 2025 class schedule below:

  • Jan. 10: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 to 3:00 pm
  • Jan. 17: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Jan. 24: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Jan. 31: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Feb 7: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Feb 14: 10:00 to 12:00 pm and 1:00 to 3:00 pm
  • Feb 21:  Examination (oral) 30 min slots. 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Upon successful completion of this program, ASBOA members will have earned their requirements for Education Law towards the Certified School Business Official designation. Certified members may use this program towards their required hours for renewal. A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants.
