If you would like to learn more, you should attend CRA’s GST Introductory Presentation for School Authorities. You will hear directly from CRA’s GST/HST Directorate Headquarters employee who has 35 years experience in GST/HST programs. The Presentation will introduce several concepts, including when the School Authority should be charging and collecting tax, claiming credits, rebates and more. You will hear about some of the most important rules and legislation as we start to then explore some more detailed learning, to help manage GST obligations and to maximize recoveries.

This initial Presentation is designed to introduce several GST concepts and provide an overview of GST issues which impact School Authorities. We will introduce several key subjects as we move forward to subsequent Presentations in the Series. This Presentation will help you and your colleagues become better prepared for the subsequent Presentations, and is designed to lay the foundation for the other learning events in your Series.
 
Michael Monk has been with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for 35 years, working extensively with GST/HST. His current role in CRA’s Ottawa Headquarters (HQ) is with the HQ - GST/HST and Digital Compliance Directorate where he has managed CRA’s National GST/HST Presentations and Outreach services for the last nine years.
 
Michael was a Team Leader and Senior Technical Interpretations Analyst for 12 years in GST/HST Rulings, Legislative Policy and Regulatory Affairs Branch, and spent additional years in other GST/HST roles within the Compliance Programs Branch. Michael also worked as a CRA Facilitator over a 20-year period developing training courses and facilitating GST/HST Legislation and Audit Courses to CRA staff.
