Controller of Plant and Accommodation Services
 
Regina Catholic Schools is seeking a strategic and innovative leader for the position of Controller of Plant and Accommodation Services. The position provides direct leadership for all aspects of school division facilities including capital and space utilization planning, facility inspection, maintenance and repair, energy management, monitoring of O.H.& S. committees, provision of school equipment and furnishings, coordination and scheduling of facility usage, and coordination of the division’s material delivery system.
 
The candidate will possess post-secondary studies in engineering, architecture, project management, facility management or related fields. Applicants will have a proven history of progressive management and supervisory experience in facility planning/construction and maintenance. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the practices and teachings of the Catholic Church. Preference will be given to Catholic applicants. With an operating budget of $121M, Regina Catholic Schools serves over 12,000 students in 32 schools in the City of Regina.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing statistics and information related to school division facilities including the Five Year Capital Plan, condition and repair requirements, modification and modernization, space utilization, and procurement of additional space or portables.
  • Ministry contact for matters related to capital projects and portable classrooms application, approval and implementation.
  • Providing required facility inspections and reports to identify building repairs, infrastructure condition, space needs, health and safety concerns, accessibility and compliance with all applicable codes and bylaws prescribed by authorities.
  • Ongoing energy management and eco-friendly upgrades.
  • Implementation of updated digital controls for HVAC systems and use of FAME software for electronic repair requests and scheduling of preventative maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with facility working groups (supervisors, high school engineers, caretaking staff)
  • Coordinate with Business and Finance an annual proposed budget for facility needs and prepare and administer budgets for the Facilities Department.
  • Provide necessary information to Purchasing to request RFP’s, tenders related to capital, construction upgrades, equipment and services.
  • Evaluate the activities of the maintenance and caretaking staff to ensure the efficiency of operations.
  • In consultation with HR Management, monitor O.H. & S. committees, worker safety programs, WCB and LTD compliance as it relates to facility staff and schools.
  • Coordination of system delivery service as it pertains to weekly delivery of instructional material and equipment.
  • Managing furniture and equipment requests for new, replacement and specialized items.
  • Coordination and scheduling of facility usage requests including the Board-City of Regina Joint Use Agreement.
