Escape the stress of the city traffic and join the engaging, committed team in Sturgeon School Division. We are currently recruiting for a full time Director of Financial Services at Central Office located in the heart of Morinville.    
 
Reporting to the Associate Superintendent, Corporate Services, this role provides leadership to the Finance Department and contributes in all day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare contracts and agreements with outside corporations/agencies
  • In years of municipal elections, assume the duties as the Deputy Returning Officer for The Sturgeon School Division
  • Post expenses by elected and appointed officials in accordance with legislation and Board policy
  • Maintain the Division budget and financial systems for staffing and expenditures, ensuring reconciliation between the software systems
  • Maintain, administer and support all functions of the Division budget and financial systems for all cost centers
  • Responsible for all accounting, filing of returns, reporting, auditing functions and financial statements
  • Manage and maintain ongoing Credit Enrolment Units (CEUs) reconciliation with timely, updated reports to all stakeholders
  • Ensure tax, accounting and other financial compliance requirements met
  • Leadership, coaching and evaluation of financial team members
  • Provide leadership in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of recommended Board policies and Administrative Practices
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills resulting in compliance with all legal, Ministerial and Board mandates and timelines, and adherence to Superintendent and Associate Superintendent, Corporate Services’ directives
  • Contribute to a Division culture which facilitates positive results, effectively handles emergencies and deals with crisis situations in a team-oriented, collaborative and cohesive fashion
  • Ensure parents and staff have a high level of satisfaction with the services provided and the responsiveness of the department
  • Establish and maintains positive, professional working relations with the members of the Division’s Senior Executive team
  • Exhibit a high level of personal, professional and organizational integrity
 
The successful candidate will have a Degree in Business with a CPA designation, with professional experience at a senior management level.  Proven and effective leadership qualities are required.  Knowledge of PowerSchool, Acorn and Rycor programs would be preferred. Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office along with the ability to analyze and manage data is required.
